FULL-TIME - 6 MONTH COMMUNITY OUTREACH POSITION

SALARY:  $2500.00/MONTH, PLUS BENEFITS

 

This position is based in Coos Bay , Oregon .

Job Title: Coos Bay Community Outreach Coordinator

Goal: Help support and expand alliance of opposition to planned LNG port proposal while laying the foundation for opposition for proposed coal bed methane projects.

Proposed organizer tasks

1. Help coordinate, support and expand the coalition effort to oppose the Coos LNG site, working with Club members and local Club leaders and other volunteers. 

2. Work to help organize Community Events and Educational Forums 

3. Help Organize land owners along the planned pipeline route in opposition to project

4. Help lay the foundation for potential legal challenges and work to identify attorneys who could help with case

5. Help increase media publicity and counter pro-LNG media campaign

6. Investigate and implement creative strategies for opposing LNG project.

7. Work to build fiscal support for coalition effort   

Knowledge & Skills:

 

--         Experience with community organizing or mobilizing project.

 

--         Ability to interact positively with community residents, volunteers, staff and the public

 

--         Strong oral and written communication skills.

 

--         Demonstrated interest in the environment or related public interest issues.

 

--         Ability to clearly explain complex issues and effectively communicate them to community residents.

 

--         Proficient with Word processing and Spreadsheet applications Able to travel as needed.  Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required.
