few guards, on site. A couple of machine guns on the tug boats and the North Bend Police Department. That would surely stop me. That's pretty much the extent of proposed security. I almost forgot the Coast Guard - no offense intended Someone, please tell me there's more. |

attack? Terrorists? Accidents? And oh yeah, has anyone mentioned 223 miles of pipeline, three feet under the ground and identifiable by the fact that it's in the middle of a 100 foot swath, cut through pristine forests and homeowners' back yards. No fence, no video, no alarms, no patrols. Someone, please tell me there's more. |
| We
have been told by Mr. Braddock, that the ships are state of the
art, double-hulled and safe for transport and off-loading into the Jordan Cove facility. Didn't the builders of the Titanic and the New Carissa say the same type of thing? Someone, please tell me there's more. |
Do you remember that Coast Guard article I quoted last week. It states that
a spill could travel up to 50 miles on water? More conservative estimates
put the figure at between 3 to 10 miles. If there was an accident or an attack
at or near the Jordan Cove facility, the affected area could be something like this.

A large segment of our community
seems ready
to accept all this for the promise
of
50 or 60 jobs.
Surely we can't be that desperate,
are we?
