Happy New Year!!!
I thought this info from Richard
(below) was interesting concerning Douglas
County Commissioners and may be of use to us in the areas we need
to put political pressure. My one visit to the Coos County
Commissioners this last year (August 16th) was rather unsettling to
say the least Both Mr. Griffith and Nikki Whitty rudely
interrupted me more than once while I was talking and blasted me with
questions about other topics. I felt more like I was making
public comment before a firing squad instead of before my
representatives in a republic form of government - by the
people, for the people. Of all the public officials I have
encountered, these commissioners, who by the way are the same people
responsible for bringing us the mess with Mastec and for selling our gas
mineral rights for next to nothing, do not appear to care what
the people of Coos County think or want. They seemed to be
more concerned with me hearing what they had to say instead of
the other way around. Perhaps this is why they have gotten
us in such messes. They had no interest in having an advisory
vote by the people of this county regarding LNG or in supporting an
"independent" study. They felt the Federal Process
was good enough and believed the people should trust them.
They informed me that the people of Coos County were not smart enough
to vote on LNG. It seemed rather obvious to me that
they had already jumped in bed with the Jordan Cove Energy Project
promoters and did not appear interested in hearing anything
anyone else had to say. These are the people who would be
regulating these same companies in order to protect us and the
County's interest..............scary!!
Perhaps newly elected Kevin Stufflebean
will bring some professionalism and common courtesy back into
the Commission..........?
Any ideas about how to address these
rather difficult people would be appreciated from you all. I
don't think going before them alone again would be advisable.

Wow!! This guy has put it about as well as anyone has to date.
The only thing he left out is the effects of a Tidal Wave on the terminal
and the fall out across the bay. We are having some success over here
with our commissioners. We are about to have a big change and need to
see what the new commissioner thinks. One thing that did come out is
the
big push for this is coming from the Coos County Commissioners
and that
they have not paid attention to the details.
This is very so of the 12" pipe and seems to be so for this 36"
proposed pipe. They do seem to care about the effects on the public in
Coos County. This came from a
Douglas
County commissioner. Hope all is well for you. I am busy
as hell. Chasm

A great article by Bob Phillips made
it into the News Review (Roseburg) as a Guest Column in Tuesday's paper.
For those of you who missed reading it, I posted it below. Also,
if you haven't written or called your politicians, it's not too late.
Contact me if you need any info on doing that..................
